FAQ
Use this product in your evening skincare routine
- If pregnant or not using a retinol, this serum can replace your retinol, and can be used by most skin types every other night (or even nightly).
- If using a retinol, you can alternate our serum with your retinol on opposite nights.
- For normal to oily/acne-prone skin: Cleanse and pat dry face. Then apply one pump of serum to whole face. Follow with moisturizer. Use every other night for the first 2 weeks, then may increase to nightly.
- For normal or combo to dry skin: Cleanse and pat dry face. Apply moisturizer to any sensitive areas* first. Then apply half a pump of serum to whole face. Follow with moisturizer. Use every other night.
- For very sensitive skin: Cleanse and pat dry face. Apply moisturizer to entire face. Then apply half a pump of serum to whole face, avoiding sensitive areas*. Use 2 times a week, with at least 2 days off in between use.
*Common sensitive areas include the corners of eyes, nose, and mouth.
Do not apply to broken skin. Avoid contact with eyes.
This will depend on your own skin type and other products you're using, but we recommend using at least once weekly (if using a retinol), and if this is a retinol replacement, at least 3-4 times a week.
Mandelic acid is derived from almonds, so we do recommend testing carefully if you have an almond allergy.
Avoid using if you have broken skin on your face.
While this serum is safe for sensitive skin, it should not be used if skin is stinging or burning at baseline or with mild products. This is a sign of a disrupted skin barrier and you may need to pause any actives (like AHAs, BHAs, retinol, vitamin C) and just focus on moisturizing your skin.
Yes, our Mandelic Night Serum was created precisely with pregnancy and nursing in mind.
These terms are not regulated, so you will find many brands and retailers using them differently.
At KOREJ SKIN, pregnancy/nursing safe means our product was formulated to be free of any potential endocrine disruptors like phthalates, parabens, fragrances, and essential oils. It also was formulated without ingredients that can potentially affect baby like retinol, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, and more.
Clean often refers to products that are free of certain chemicals that may be dangerous or toxic in larger quantities, or endocrine disruptors. Our formulas are all clean.
When it comes to pregnancy, clean does not always mean safe, as there are "clean" products that still contain retinol or other ingredients that are otherwise safe when not pregnant.
We know it can be confusing, that's exactly why we created this! Created by board-certified dermatologist and with OB approval, we hope this serum will be your go-to during pregnancy and beyond.
Absolutely! While this serum was created to be pregnancy safe, it makes it a great option for those who are looking for a clean and effective gentle formula to get their skin glowing.
Yes, however we don't recommend layering the two at the same time (this would be irritating)! Instead, alternate using one or the other each night. Some even have enjoyed using this just once or twice a week as exfoliating nights for a gorgeous glow.
We don't recommend this. When it comes to skincare (and particularly exfoliation), more is not always better. This product has all the ingredients needed for an effective resurfacing serum, layering with other acids risks irritation.
This may be an ideal serum for you if you have eczema or rosacea as it is a very gentle AHA, but it will depend on the severity of your skin condition. If your eczema or rosacea is severe or flaring, we do not recommend using this (or any exfoliating) serum. If it is mild, after testing in a safe spot, you can use this on top of your moisturizer as recommended in the "How do I use this product" question at the top for very sensitive skin.
Yes, broad-spectrum sunscreen should always be worn daily (regardless of what products you use at night, but certainly if using AHA like in our product). Daily SPF is also critical to fading dark marks, so will help our serum work even better for you!
Our serum is completely fragrance-free, meaning no chemicals were added to change the smell. It does have a natural scent (unlike "unscented" products, that have masking fragrances) that comes from the serum ingredients (most notably the mandelic and lactic acids). Some describe it as a playdough-like, slightly sour smell that goes away a few seconds after applying.
You can expect a glow even after the first night of use, but as is the case with most skincare, the best results come from consistency. Expect to see your best skin with 4-6 weeks of regular use.
Right now our Mandelic Night Serum is the hero, but a cleanser and moisturizer are currently in development to complement it!
